Women's Cross Country Wins HYP Meet

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (9/12/14) – It's been six years since the Princeton women's cross country team competed in the HYP meet, but tonight it didn't look the Tigers skipped a beat as they went 2-3-4-5-7 to take the win.
Princeton took seven places in the top 10 led by two-time All-America and sophomore Megan Curham. Curham finished in second place with a 17:38.6, just six seconds out of first place. Junior Kathryn Fluehr and senior Erika Fluehr followed at 17:45.9 and 17:46.2 and Katie Little was fifth at 17:50.7. Freshman Natalie Rathjen was the final scorer as she posted a time of 17:55.9 for seventh place. Sophomore Nicole Marvin was ninth at 18:02.3 and freshman Gabi Forrest was 10th at 18:04.1.
The 5k race was held on the Yale Golf Course, with Yale's Kira Garry winning the individual race at 17:32.4.
The Tigers finished with a score of 21, followed by Yale with 47 and Harvard with 68. Princeton's average time of 17:47.46 was nearly 10 seconds faster than Yale and 25 seconds faster than Harvard.
Princeton will next compete at the Meet of Champions in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx on September 20.
