MADISON, Wisc. (10/16/15) - No. 25 ranked Princeton women's cross country team outran its ranking today at the 2015 Wisconsin adidas Invitational, finishing 13th on the Zimmer Championship Course.
A total of 19 ranked teams competed, along with five teams receiving votes and 11 additional squads. The Tigers finished ahead of No. 13 Michigan State, No. 19 North Carolina, No. 20 West Virginia, No. 21 Vanderbilt and Minnesota and William & Mary, who are both tied at No. 23.
The No. 1 ranked team in the nation New Mexico won the race with a score of 32. No. 11 Arkansas was second wtih 188 points, followed by No. 17 Virginia with 217.
Junior Lizzie Bird led the Tigers with a 14th-place finish and a time of 20:00.8. Senior Emily de La Bruyere wasn't far behind at 20:20.6 for 30th, while clsasmate Kathryn Fluehr was 107th at 21:03.6. Sophomore Melinda Renuart and junior Ally Markovich followed at 21:15.6 and 21:22.8. Senior Birdie Hutton and junior Nicole Marvin rounded out the Princeton seven, at 22:37.3 and 22:47.8.
The Tigers hosts the Princeton Invitational tomorrow morning at West Windsor Fields. The women's race begins at 10:30 a.m.
