October 29, 2015 | Men's Cross Country
PRINCETON, N.J. (10/28/15) - The Ivy League Heptagonal Championships makes it return to Van Cortlandt Park and Princeton hopes to make its return to the top of the podium.
The Tigers are the reigning Ivy League Heps champions and won three of the four years it was held in Princeton. The last time Heps was in the Bronx, in 2010, it was the Tigers winning the title.
The men's race will be held at at 11 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 30. Another change, besides the location, is the change in distance. The men will race 8-kilometers instead of the usual five miles.
Princeton has won Heps seven times in the last nine years. The other two years, in 2009 and 2013, Princeton was second - to Columbia. Princeton will have competition again in Columbia this season as the Lions are ranked nationally, along with Penn.
Two of last year's five scorers return including the runner-up senior Michael Sublette. He has been the Tigers' No. 1 and 2 runner all season. Senior Sam Berger was the final scorer at Heps last year and scored at the Princeton Interregional Meet in early October. Two freshmen, Steven Sum and Jeremy Spiezio have scored in all three meets this season. Sophomores Noah Kauppila, Wolfgang Beck and junior William Bertrand are in the mix to score as well.
