Men's Track & Field Sets Sights on 24th Consecutive H-Y-P Crown

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Princeton University men's and track & field team will head to New England this weekend with hopes of capturing a 24th consecutive HYP title.Posting wins in 11 events last season, the Tigers rose to the top of the podium in the 60, 200, 500, 800, 1,000, 4x400, 4x800, high jump, triple jump, long jump and pole vault.
John Hill and Dré Nelson finished first and third in the 60m, clocking in at 6.88 and 6.94, respectively. Brent Albertson won the 200m with a time of 22.82, while Greg Caldwell came in fourth (23.56). Caldwell was also the runner-up in the 60m hurdles (8.22). Rob Mohr was third (8.50).
Ray Mennin was second in the 400m at 48.81, while Luke Brahm captured the 800m with a time of 1:52.52. William Paulson won the 1,000m with a time of 2:27.56, while David Pugliese placed third (2:31.42).
Adam Bragg won the pole vault by clearing 5.22 (17-1.5), while Ben Gaylord finished second at 4.80 (15-9). Tumi Akinlawon was second in the long jump at 6.92 (22-8.50), while Xavier Bledsoe finished second in the high jump at 2.01 (6-7). Nana Owusu-Nyantekyi won the triple jump with a leap of 14.84 (48-8.25).
Scott Rushton was the runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 17.69 (58-00.50) while Jake Taylor came in fourth in the weight throw at 15.99 (52-5.50).
LAST TIME OUT
Princeton came in fourth at Penn State's Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup behind a pair of record-setting performances.
Adam Bragg set a new Ivy League benchmark in the pole vault, clearing 5.41 (17-09.00). Claiming the Tigers' lone win at the Challenge, Bragg edged out Cornell's Grant Sisserson, who cleared 5.31 (17-05.00).
Carrington Akosa broke the school record in the 60, crossing the finish line in 6.82, two one hundredths of a second faster than the Tigers' previous mark. Continuing to shine in the 200, Akosa placed fourth with a time of 21.67.
Bradley Paternostro was the runner up in the mile run (4:02.75), while Christopher Cook took second in the shot put with a toss of 18.00 (59-00.75).
