Baseball Drops Middle Game of Weekend Series Against No. 16 Maryland, 5-0

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Princeton University baseball team dropped the second game of its weekend set with No. 16 Maryland, 5-0.
The Tigers close out their series with the Terrapins on Monday, Mar. 16 at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.
Wasting little time getting on the board, Maryland pushed across three runs on three hits in the bottom of the first inning. Kevin Martir drove in the game's first run with a single to center before later scoring on a Tim Lewis base-knock.
Danny Hoy went 3-for-4 on the afternoon, while Billy Arendt and Paul Tupper each recorded a hit. Keelan Smithers fell to 1-2 on the year, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits in seven innings of work. Chris Bodurian gave up two runs in the eighth.
Martir was 2-for-4 on the day with a pair of RBI and a run scored. Jose Cuas and Lewis each finished 1-for-3, with Cuas also scoring a couple of runs. Brandon Lowe accounted for the Terrapins' other hit.
Willie Rios picked up his first win of the season, tossing six shutout innings with five strikeouts. Ryan Selmer and Alex Robinson combined to pitch the final three innings, surrendering just one hit.
