No. 11 Princeton Extends Win Streak to 11 With Victories Over Marist, VMI

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The 11th-ranked Princeton University women's water polo team opened play at the Harvard Invitational with a pair of victories over Marist and VMI.
Downing Marist in their Invitational opener, 10-5, the Tigers dispatched of VMI in the nightcap, 16-5. Winners of 11-straight, Princeton (13-1) will close out the weekend with a match-up against Iona on Sunday, Mar. 8 at 11:45 a.m.

Jumping out to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter, the Tigers carried a 5-1 margin into the intermission. Padding its cushion, Princeton netted five of the seven goals in the third period en route to a 10-5 win.
Ashley Hatcher led the Tigers with three goals, an assist and a steal, while Pippa Temple netted two goals in addition to drawing three ejections. Haley Wan, Sydney Cheong, Morgan Hallock, Kimi Klein and Jessie Holechek also got on the board with a goal apiece.
Improving to 6-1 on the season, Ashleigh Johnson recorded 16 saves. Stopping all seven of the shots she faced in the first eight minutes, Johnson turned away three of Marist's four shots on goal in the second period. Adding three more saves in the third quarter, she had three additional stops in the final frame.

Netting three of the four goals in the opening period, the Tigers accounted for five of the six scores in the second to build an 8-2 halftime lead. Holding a 3-2 scoring edge in the third, Princeton had five of the game's final six goals.
Haley Wan, Ashley Hatcher and Hannah Lapkin led the Tigers with three goals apiece. Chelsea Johnson had two goals and three assists, while Sydney Cheong, Pippa Temple, CeCe Coffey, Kimi Klein and Emily Smith also notched a goal.
Taylor Dunstan had four assists and two steals, while Klein added three helpers and two drawn ejections. Smith also had two assists, while Wan recorded the Tigers' lone block.
Improving to 7-0 on the year, Helena van Brande posted 15 saves. Making six saves in the first half, she tallied seven stops in the third quarter before tacking on two more in the final frame.
