PRINCETON, N.J. (10/14/16) - The Princeton men's soccer team looks to turn the tide on the Ivy League as it faces Columbia on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m., in New York City.
Princeton is coming off of a 4-1 win over Rutgers from Tuesday night, which improved its record to 6-4-1. The Tigers are 0-1-1 in the Ivy League after a tie to Dartmouth and a loss to Brown. Senior Greg Seifert, who has played at forward for most of the season instead of his defensive position, leads the team in scoring with 15 points in 11 games. He has tallied six goals and has three assists. Freshman Benjamin Martin has three goals and two assists for eight points, while senior Vikram Pothuri has two goals and two assists for six points. Sophomore Sean McSherry and junior Harry Heffernan add five points apiece. Senior Josh Haberman has played every minute in net and has a 1.15 goals against average and a .735 save percentage.
Columbia holds a 33-21-10 advantage in the all-time series since the teams first started playing each other in 1912. Last year the Lions took a 2-0 game with both goals coming in the second half.
The Lions are off to a 7-2-1 start and are 1-0-1 in the Ivy League after an overtime win over Penn and a tie with Brown, both coming on the road. Columbia is unbeaten in its last four games, going 2-0-2 with a 1-0 OT victory over Temple on Tuesday. Arthur Bosua is the team's leading scorer with 10 points on four goals and two assists. Six players follow with four points, including John Denis who leads the teams in shots. Zach Adler has a 4-2-1 record in goal with a 1.21 GAA and a .791 save percentage. However it's been Dylan Castanheira who has been in goal for the last three games. He has a 0.31 GAA and an .875 save percentage.
