Asom Hat Trick Helps Tigers Snap Skid, Top Cornell 6-1

Asom opened the scoring 11 minutes in when she fired from 20 yards out and found the inside of the left post, and nine minutes later, she scored again, heading toward the six-yard box and sending one across the front of the goal and in for a 2-0 lead.Â
Less than two minutes later, Tomi Kennedy put Princeton up 3-0, a lead the Tigers held into halftime.
Vanessa Gregoire opened the scoring in the second half, taking control of a ball just beyond the 18-yard box less than 10 minutes into the half, giving Princeton a 4-0 lead. Although Cornell got on the board with a Paige DeLoach goal in the 62nd minute, Princeton answered four minutes later when Asom acheived the hat trick, working her way around the 18-yard box to find enough space to power it inside the left post for a 5-1 lead.Â
Tyler Lussi made it 6-1 putting a free kick into the top-left corner of the goal.
The win extends Princeton's series streak over Cornell to 21, dating back to 1996. Princeton will wrap the regular season next Saturday with a 7 p.m. game against Penn, the final one at Roberts Stadium for Princeton's seven-member senior class.
