Princeton will be back in action Sunday at Lehigh for a 2 p.m. tip.
The Tigers put up 35 3-pointers on the night but only 10 of those fell while the Cougars found more success inside, shooting .435 (20-46) from 2-point range to offset going 4 of 16 from beyond the arc. Eric Mika had a double-double for the Cougars with a game-high 26 points and 18 boards. T.J. Haws added 20 points for the Cougars and Nick Emery was also in double figures with 15.
BYU also found success at the free-throw line, making its first 15 before a miss on the way to a 30-of-41 clip for the night. Princeton was 9 of 12 from the stripe.
Princeton got out to a 10-5 lead in the game's early minutes, but a 6-0 BYU run put the Cougars up 11-10 less than six minutes into the game. BYU went on to lead by as many as 11 as late as less than 13 minutes to go in the second half at 58-47.
The Tigers made a comeback to trim the deficit to as little as a point at 63-62 with 7:36 to go, but BYU let Princeton get no closer.
The sophomore Cannady's 18 points were just five off his career best of 23 last season against Columbia. Steven Cook (12), Hans Brase (11) and Henry Caruso (11) joined Cannady in double figures.
