• The Tigers and Mountain Hawks will meet Sunday for the first time since 2009. It'll be Princeton's first trip to Bethlehem since 2008. Princeton's win streak in the series only stands at one game as Lehigh won the last meeting in Stabler.
• Up Next: Princeton will face another Patriot League opponent Wednesday when it returns to the Lehigh Valley to face Lafayette in a pre-Thanksgiving contest at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Easton. The Tigers rolled past Lafayette 104-52 last season in Jadwin but lost its last trip to the Kirby Sports Center during the 2014-15 campaign, 83-66. Princeton will have its home opener two days later when it hosts Rowan in a Friday doubleheader that begins with a women's game against Rutgers at 2 p.m.
• On Lehigh: Princeton will be Lehigh's second consecutive Ivy League opponent after taking an 89-81 overtime loss at Yale Thursday. Lehigh opened with an 84-81 loss at preseason No. 7 (AP)/No. 8 (Coaches) Xavier. Tim Kempton, Lehigh's leading scorer last year (17.7), has put up 55 points over the first two games, netting 25 at Xavier and 30 at Yale. The Mountain Hawks return four starters from a year ago and their top four scorers in Kempton, Austin Price, Kahron Ross and Kyle Leufroy, each of whom averaged double-figure points last season.
• Sunday's game is a matchup of the Patriot and Ivy preseason favorites, as Lehigh scored 17 of 20 first-place votes from the league's coaches and sports information directors. The Mountain Hawks earned all but one of the available first-place votes as Lehigh's two votes had to go to another contender. Boston University picked up the other three first-place votes. Kempton was the preseason Player of the Year pick and Ross was also a preseason first-team all-league selection. Both were first-team all-league picks last season.
• A new ESPN bracketology was unveiled Thursday, and the Tigers retained their 9-seed projection, though with a site change to Indianapolis and a first-round game against Iowa State with Kentucky as the No. 1 seed. Lehigh is also in the draw as a 15-seed in the same South region, one of five Princeton opponents in the field of 68: 7-seed California, 9-seed VCU, 12-seed BYU and 12-seed Monmouth.
• Princeton has won its last two against the Patriot League, beating Lafayette and Bucknell in Jadwin last season after losing at Lafayette in 2014-15. The Tigers will travel to Bucknell Dec. 22 for their third Patriot League opponent of the season after heading to Lafayette Wednesday.
• Stabler Arena hosted a memorable game in Princeton history 20 years ago as the Tigers beat Penn 63-56 in a 1996 Ivy League playoff to win the NCAA Tournament bid and go on to upset UCLA in the first round. Princeton had lost eight in a row to the Quakers heading into that game.
• The 1,000-point watch is on for the Tigers as four players could surpass the 1K mark by repeating their previous season totals. Spencer Weisz is the active career leader at 929, followed by Hans Brase at 842, Steven Cook at 753 and Henry Caruso at 625.
• The Tigers are coming off a game at BYU in which they hoisted 35 3-point tries, making 10. Princeton closed last season with 39 3-point attempts against Virginia Tech, making 11, giving Princeton 74 3-point tries in their last two games. Three of Princeton's top five 3-point attempt games have come under Mitch Henderson, including 43 against Kean on Jan. 26, 2014 and 39 against Pacific on Dec. 20, 2013 along with the Virginia Tech game. Princeton's program record is 43, set against Western Illinois on Dec. 4, 1998, and the other top-five 3-point attempt game was during Henderson's sophomore year when the Tigers put up 39 against Fresno State on Dec. 2, 1995.
• Princeton went to the line 12 times Monday at BYU to 41 for the Cougars. Princeton had two games last year in which the free throw disparity was more than 10 tries in favor of Princeton's opponent, and the Tigers lost both of those games, at Virginia Tech and Saint Joseph's. Princeton's opponent has taken the last 12 such games, and the last time Princeton won when shooting more than 10 fewer free throws than its foe was on Feb. 25, 2012, when the Tigers beat Dartmouth 85-61 despite the Big Green going 18 of 21 from the stripe to Princeton's 5 of 8.
• Princeton returns 99 percent of its points and minutes from last year, a group that includes its top 13 scorers from last year and three 2016 All-Ivy League honorees in Henry Caruso (first team), Spencer Weisz (second team) and Steven Cook (honorable mention).
• As can be expected from a team returning so much, all five of Princeton's starters in the opener were juniors or seniors, and two of Princeton's four-man rookie class saw playing time. Will Gladson and Jose Morales each came off the bench to make their debuts during the BYU game.
• Princeton's bench outscored BYU's 30-10 with 25 of those points coming from Devin Cannady (18) and Myles Stephens (seven). Cannady's 18 points, which were five off his career high, marked the sixth time the sophomore led Princeton in scoring in a game. Cannady came off the bench in all 29 games last season, and his four 3-pointers at BYU tied a career high.
• Princeton has three players who have earned All-Ivy League honors during their careers: Spencer Weisz was the 2014 Ivy League Rookie of the Year and 2015 and 2016 second-team All-Ivy. Steven Cook was 2015 second-team All-Ivy and 2016 honorable mention All-Ivy. Henry Caruso was 2016 first-team All-Ivy.
• Princeton was in the top 10 percent of the nation (top 34) in five statistical categories last season: third in fewest fouls (503), sixth in fewest turnovers (331), 14th in 3s per game (9.7), 21st in scoring margin (+10.5 ppg) and 31st in 3FG percentage (.383).
• Princeton led the Ivy League last year in scoring offense (79.1 ppg, 39th nationally) in fewest turnovers, fewest fouls, defensive rebounds per game (26.93), fewest personal fouls per game (17.3) and 3s per game.
• Princeton's 79.1 ppg last season was the third-highest in program history and highest since the 1971-72 season, a program-record 79.69 points per game. The 1964-65 Final Four team averaged 79.69 ppg.
• Princeton is coming off its quadrennial foreign trip. The Tigers went to Italy in late August, spending two nights each in Rome, Florence, Bologna with a side trip to Venice, Vicenza and Cernobbio on Lake Como. Princeton played three games, starting by closing a 21-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat Fortitudo Kontatto in Bologna, a second-division Italian team, 93-87 in overtime. Khyan Rayner hit a halfcourt buzzer-beater to send the game to OT. Next, Princeton faced ASD Pallacanestro Vicenza, winning that game 67-58 against a third-division Italian team. The Tigers closed the trip with an 84-80 OT loss to Junior Casale, another second-division Italian team. Princeton had 15 players on the trip, not including the freshmen, and 13, except Hans Brase and Elias Berbari, saw playing time. Among the Tigers on the Italy trip was Devin Cannady, who had also studied in Tanzania earlier in the summer.
• Princeton coach Mitch Henderson enters the season as the sixth-winningest coach in program history and the longest-tenured coach since Pete Carril retired in 1996. With a 20-win season, Henderson will be Princeton's third-winningest coach. His 96 wins trail Frederick Leuhring (100, 1912-20), Butch van Breda Kolff (103, 1962-67), Albert Wittmer (115, 1923-32), Franklin "Cappy" Cappon (250, 1938-43 & 1946-61) and Pete Carril (514, 1967-96).
• The Ivy League has won five NCAA Tournament games in the last seven seasons. Cornell advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2010, Harvard beat New Mexico in 2013 and Cincinnati in 2014, and Yale beat Baylor in 2016. Princeton came within a buzzer-beating bank shot of adding to that in 2011, but Kentucky's Brandon Knight saved a 57-55 win, and Harvard fell to UNC just 67-65 in 2015.
• The Pete Carril coaching tree is going strong in the 2016-17 season. Seven current Division I coaches played for and/or coached under Carril, including Mitch Henderson '98, Mike Brennan '94 (American), John Thompson III '88 (Georgetown), Chris Mooney '94 (Richmond), Sydney Johnson '97 (Fairfield), Brian Earl '99 (Cornell) and Bill Carmody (Holy Cross).
• #IVYMADNESS: The inaugural Ivy League men's and women's basketball tournaments will take place Saturday and Sunday, March 11-12, 2017, at the Palestra in Philadelphia. The top four teams will earn berths in the tournament, with the semifinals on Saturday and the championships on Sunday. All six games will be broadcast live on ESPN's networks. The winner of the regular season will be the Ivy League champion, and the tournament winner will receive the automatic NCAA tournament bid with the regular-season champion, if different, earning an NIT bid. The site past 2017 has not been determined.
