Princeton Completes Perfect Opening Weekend With 8-1 Win Over George Washington
November 20, 2016 | Women's Squash
The fourth-ranked Princeton women's squash team punctuated a perfect opening weekend Sunday afternoon with an 8-1 home win over George Washington.
The Tigers, who defeated both Stanford and Franklin & Marshall earlier this weekend, continued to show their impressive depth by claiming 3-0 wins at every spot from No. 3 through No. 9. Freshman Morgan Steelman allowed only eight points in her win at No. 5, while classmate Madison Soukup made sure the Class of 2020 had a perfect opening weekend with her 3-0 win at No. 8.
The highlight match of the afternoon came at No. 2, where Tiger junior Lindsey Scott was pushed to the limit by Engy El Mandouh. Scott held leads of 1-0 and 2-1, and but an 11-8 loss forced a fifth game. The Tiger veteran had the goods late, taking an 11-4 victory to secure the match.
Princeton will be off for Thanksgiving week, but will return to the Jadwin Courts Thursday, Dec. 1, for a 6 pm match against Drexel. It will be streamed live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
