Tigers Look To Cap Perfect 2016 Portion Of The Schedule During Upcoming Trio
November 30, 2016 | Women's Squash
After a terrific 3-0 start to its 2016-17 season the weekend before Thanksgiving, the Princeton women's squash team will try to head into the holidays with another three victories over the next five days. That process starts at 6 pm Thursday night in the Jadwin Squash Courts, as the fourth-ranked Tigers will welcome No. 10 Drexel to Princeton.
Princeton, which opened its season with an impressive 6-3 win over fifth-ranked Stanford, will conclude the 2016 portion of its schedule Sunday with two matches at Williams College. The Tigers will open play at 11 am against the 12th-ranked Ephs, and then will take on No. 15 Middlebury immediately afterwards.
The Tigers, who posted wins over both Franklin & Marshall and George Washington without the services of All-America honorees Olivia Fiechter and Maria Elena Ubina, have gotten impressive performances up and down the lineup. Junior Lindsey Scott has played as high as No. 2 this season, and she is 3-0, including a 3-1 win at the No. 4 spot against the Cardinal. The freshman duo of Morgan Steelman and Madison Soukup is undefeated so far, as is senior co-captain Alexandra Toth.
Drexel is 1-3 on the season, including losses to Top-8 programs Trinity (8-1) and Columbia (9-0).
These three matches will be Princeton's final competitions for six weeks; when the Tigers return to the court, they will do so in mid-January in their Ivy League opening weekend against Dartmouth and reigning CSA champion Harvard. Those matches will also be at the Jadwin Squash Courts.
You can watch all five courts for the Drexel match live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
