Caro Named First-Team All-America
December 07, 2016 | Field Hockey
PRINCETON, N.J. – You can't write up a senior season better than Cat Caro's.
Â
Caro was selected to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches' Association Division I All-America First Team today.
Â
The senior had a fabulous year with a personal-high 18 goals and 47 points. She registered a point in 15 of the team's 19 games and finished the season eighth in the country in goals (.95) and 13th in points per game (2.26). Her standout performances include back-to-back hat tricks vs. Brown (Oct. 15) and Towson (Oct. 16). The two-time captain was remarkable against Ivy opponents, averaging over three points per contest with nine goals and four assists. Caro finishes her career with three All-Ivy accolades, two All-Region honors and her first All-American award.
Â
Princeton went 12-8 in 2016 and reached the NCAA Tournament for the ninth straight season. The Tigers received an at-large bid to the tournament for the first time in program history and reached the Final Four for the seventh time. It was the second straight season that the Tigers have had an All-American as Maddie Copeland '16 was a third-team selection in 2015.
