BOX SCORE
PRINCETON, N.J. (2/27/16) - The Ivy League Rookie of the Year Karlie Lund scored the game-winning goal at 17:18 of the third period to give the No. 8 Princeton women's hockey team a 4-3 win over St. Lawrence in Game 2 of the ECAC Quarterfinal series on Saturday, Feb. 27 at Hobey Baker Rink.
Princeton rallied from a 2-0 deficit to take Game 2, 4-3, and force a Game 3 in the ECAC Quarterfinals.
"It's another example of the character of this team," Kelsey Koelzer said. "We knew we could get it back and this would not be the last game of our season. All we had to do was rely on each other and play a good team game and that says the most out of the comeback right there."
Senior Kimberly Newell made 33 saves in her 18th win of the season and reached 3,000 career saves on her 10th save of the afternoon. She is just the second goaltender in ECAC history to reach the mark – joining Laurie Belliveau of Yale (1995-98) who has a league best 3,473.
"Our word all year is relentless and just go until they tell us we can't play anymore," Princeton head coach Jeff Kampersal said. "Our focus for tomorrow? Just enjoy it tonight and then play with passion. Because that's what we had today. Passion."
The Saints took a 2-0 lead with a Justine Reyes goal at 7:45 of the first and an Amanda Boulier goal at 7:11 of the second.
Freshman Stephanie Sucharda notched her third goal of the season on a give-and-go with Keiko DeClerck to make it 2-1 at 9:13.

The Saints were assessed a five-minute major for checking after a hit on Koelzer at 15:51. A retaliation cross-checking call gave Princeton a three-minute man advantage. It didn't take Koelzer long to come out of the tunnel and on her next shift, fittingly, she scored on that major penalty to tie the game at 2-2 with 52 seconds left in the second period.

"The power play did a great job of breaking the puck in and retrieving it, and all four of their players were basically below the goal line," Koelzer said describing the play. "Cass Tucker was about to get it to me and I was actually looking for Karlie Lund on the back door but I think it hit one of their girls and went in five hole so it was a pretty good bounce but a product of hard work."
Boulier put the Saints back up with her second goal, just five seconds into the team's fourth power-play opportunity, at 2:17.
A Koelzer rocket from the left point led the Princeton's tying the game at 3-3 at 13:18, as DeClerck tipped the shot on the doorstep. Senior Cristin Shanahan was also credited with an assist.

The game-winning goal came exactly four minutes later, as leading scorer Karlie Lund put away a Cassidy Tucker attempt. Sucharda earned her second assist of the afternoon on the game winner.

St. Lawrence pulled Grace Harrison for the extra skater with 1:41 to play but after getting called for seven skaters on the ice with 41 seconds to left, the Saints wouldn't be able to get the equalizer. Harrison finished the game with 23 stops.
St. Lawrence outshot Princeton 36-27, and each team went 1 for 4 on the power-play.
The teams will meet for the decisive Game 3 tomorrow at 2 p.m. The winner advances to the ECAC Hockey semifinals to face No. 2 seed Clarkson at the site of the No. 1 seed Quinnipiac next weekend.
