Asom Heads to Florida for U.S. U-20 Training Camp
March 29, 2016 | Women's Soccer
In her third trip with the U.S. U-20 Women's National Team, Princeton freshman Mimi Asom will head to Florida for a training session ahead of November's U-20 Women's World Cup.
Asom first trained with the U-20s in January in California and then went with the squad to Spain earlier in March to compete in a tournament in La Manga on the country's southeastern coast.
The Florida camp will run April 1-8 in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., and includes Asom among the 26 players and seven forwards invited.
In her first year at Princeton, Asom won Ivy League Rookie of the Year honors while scoring 12 goals to tie the Princeton freshman record. Along with junior Tyler Lussi, who has trained and played with the U.S. U-23 team this offseason, the two strikers led Princeton on offense on the way to a 14-4-1 overall record, 6-0-1 in the Ivy and an NCAA tournament first-round win at Roberts Stadium over Boston College, Princeton's second NCAA tournament win in four years.
