No. 4 Louisville Picks Up Victory over Baseball

LOUISVILLE – The Princeton baseball team (0-3) fell in the final matchup of a three-game series to the No. 4 Louisville Cardinals (9-2), 11-0 at John Patterson Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Junior Nick Hernandez had two hits to lead the Tigers. For the weekend, Hernandez went 4-for-11 (.364) with a double and two RBI. Seniors Billy Arendt and Danny Hoy also had hits in the Sunday matinée vs. Louisville.
The Cardinals got the scoring started in the second inning with two RBI singles. After Princeton couldn't get a runner in scoring position home in the third, Louisville tacked on two more in the bottom of inning to jump in front, 4-0. The Tigers had two runners on with one out in its next at-bat, but a double play ended the threat.
In the fifth inning, head coach Scott Bradley's team got its first two hitters on base. Following a sacrifice, Louisville starting pitcher Drew Harrington worked out of the jam with two strikeouts. In the Cardinals' half of the fifth, the home team added three more runs. Louisville scored three times in the seventh inning and one more in the eighth to finish the scoring.
Will Smith led the No. 4 Louisville Cardinals with three hits. Smith also scored twice and had two RBI. Harrington went six innings, striking out seven, allowing four hits to pick up his second win of the season.
Princeton travels to Richmond, Va. to take on Penn State (Mar. 12), NY Tech (Mar. 13) and Richmond (Mar. 14). First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m. vs. Penn State.
