Field Hockey Ranks No. 15 In National Coaches' Preseason Poll

Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Preseason Poll

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton field hockey team was selected as the No. 15 team in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches' Preseason Poll today.

The Tigers face seven of the top 20 in the preseason poll including the season-opener vs. the No. 1 team in the country, North Carolina, at Bedford Field on Sept. 2. The Tigers have a stellar stretch during the 2016 season that features four consecutive games against teams ranked in the top 20, highlighted by a trip to No. 5 Virginia on Sept. 16. No. 4 Duke also makes the trek to Princeton on Oct. 9.

Also in the poll, the reigning national champion, Syracuse places second despite receiving the most first-place votes (25). Connecticut at No. 3 is the other top five squad in the ranks. Maryland, Wake Forest, Boston College, Albany and Michigan round out the top ten.

Princeton was the only Ivy League team ranked in the top 20. Penn and Cornell were two of the 21 other teams that were receiving votes. The Tigers were ranked No. 15 in last year's preseason coaches' poll and followed with a 11-7 campaign that ended in the NCAA quarterfinals.
