The Princeton cross country teams compete at Lehigh's 43rd annual Paul Short Run on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.
The Princeton men will race in the Brown 8k race at 12:15 p.m. Princeton is the only team, out of 42, in this race that is receiving votes in the national poll. The Tigers were left out of the Gold race, a race of 42 squads including four ranked teams and five other Ivy League teams. Princeton defeated Harvard and Yale in the annual HYP race in its last race. The Tigers claimed 23 points with a 2-3-4-5-9 finish to Yale's 49 points and Harvard's 55. Junior Noah Kauppila was the first Tiger across the line, followed by freshman Conor Lundy, senior captain William Bertrand, sophomore Jeremy Spiezio and freshman Gannon Willcutts.
The women will also race in the Brown 6k race, slated to begin at 1 p.m. Like the men, they are the only team receiving votes to be running in the Brown race, among 42, and won't face three ranked squads or five other Ivy squads in the Gold race. With a couple of the top runners battling with injuries, the team is looking to other runners to step up. Senior Ally Markovich is being looked at to take the lead. She was the top finisher at HYP, taking ninth overall. Junior Melinda Renuart followed and then three freshmen: Alexandra Rome, Rachel Granovsky and Madeleine Sumner.
