Princeton is home for two games this week. Before hosting Columbia Saturday, Princeton takes on St. John's in a non-conference match on Tuesday, Oct.10 at 7 p.m., on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.
The last time the Tigers were at home, they earned a 2-0 win over Villanova. This past Saturday, Princeton fell 1-0 to Brown, it's sixth one-goal loss of the season. Junior Jeremy Colvin paces the offense with three goals and one assist for seven points. Freshman Kevin O'Toole and seniors Daniel Bowkett and James Reiner have four points, Bowkett's coming in the first six games of the season and he has been inactive the last three outings. Princeton's defense has yet to give up a goal in the first half with sophomore Jacob Schachner making 35 saves this season for a 1.11 goals against average and a .745 save percentage.
St. John's has a 5-2-3 edge in the series which began in 1995. Last year the Red Storm took a 3-1 game in Princeton, scoring three goals in the final 25 minutes. Harry Heffernan gave Princeton a 1-0 lead in the second minute, in the team's second game of the 2016 season. Shots fell even at 13-13.
The Red Storm bring a 5-4-2 record to Princeton, and most recently played to a 2-2 draw at Creighton on Friday night to snap a two-game losing skid. St. John's defense has been its key, allowing just 0.73 goals per game. Junior Andrew Withers has been in goal every minute to own a 0.71 GAA, with five shutouts, and a .837 save percentage. Sophomore Alistair Johnston and senior Harry Cooksley are the two scoring targets. Johnston has nine points on four goals and one assist as a starter, while Cooksley has eight points on three goals and two assists in six games. Rookie Jack Shearer has the most assists, three, and chips in two goals.
