DeClerck Scores in Loss at Merrimack

Junior Keiko DeClerck scored her second goal of the season midway through the second half on a rebound effort but Princeton couldn't overcome its two-goal deficit, as the Tigers lost 4-1 at Merrimack this afternoon.
The Warriors took a 2-0 lead in the first with Katelyn Rae putting away a Paige Sorensen rebound at 6:24 before Kate Bukolska got lucky on a shot from the point at 11:18.
The Tigers outshot the Warriors in the second and cut the lead within one on a great shift. Defender Sylvie Wallin launched a rocket from the right point and as it came off the pad of Samantha Ridgewell, freshman Allison Harris was on the doorstep to attempt a rebound. Her shot was saved but again was loose and with the third time being the charm, DeClerck buried the effort at 10:47.
Paige Voight regained the two-goal cushion less than two minutes later off a scrum in front of the net, with goaltender Stephanie Neatby getting some contact on the play.
Princeton pulled Neatby, who finished the game with 20 saves, with 1:30 remaining for the extra attacker but the Tigers lost possession with 60 seconds remaining and Mikyla Grant-Mentis popped in the empty-net goal to give Merrimack the 4-1 win.
Princeton was 0 for 3 on the power play, while Merrimack was 0 for 5.
Ridgewell stopped 23 shots, as shots fell even at 24 apiece.
The Tigers head back into ECAC Hockey action next weekend, Dec. 1 & 2, capping off a six-game road swing at Dartmouth and Harvard.
