Â
Before we get to the Rutgers contest, let's take one last look at Princeton's victory over Quinnipiac.
Â
From Deep – Quinnipiac only made three treys in the game, going 3-of-16 (18.8 percent) from beyond the arc. The Bobcats had just one three-pointer in the final quarter, which came eight seconds in. Princeton opponents' have made more than four three-pointers in game once this season.
Â
Sarah Shewan – The reigning MAAC Player of the Week did not play against Princeton.
Â
Block Parties: The two teams combined for six blocked shots in the game, Quinnipiac earning four of them. The Bobcats had just one after halftime as the Tigers shot 44.4 percent from the floor in separating themselves in the victory.
Â
Here's some notes to keep an eye out for against Rutgers…
Â
Leslie Robinson: The senior captain has posted at least 10 points in each of her last four games. During that time, she's averaging 13.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.8 steals per game. She has two double-doubles in her last four contests including an impressive 16-point, 11-rebound performance against Quinnipiac, who had dropped just three home games since the beginning of the 2014-15 season prior to Saturday.
Â
Princeton's Defense: It's hard to not make mention of the Tigers' impressive performance in the fourth quarter against Quinnipiac, a team that went to the Sweet 16 last season.
Â
Quinnipiac's Aryn McClure hit a jumper with 7:13 to go in the game to put the Bobcats ahead, 44-43. That would be the last time Quinnipiac scored until McClure scooped in a layup with 50 seconds left. First, it was Carlie Littlefield's trey to put the Tigers back in front, 46-44. A few minutes later, Robinson dropped in a bucket before Kenya Holland's three-pointer stretched the lead to seven (51-44) with 2:29 remaining. The Tigers sank nine free throws in the last 1:22 to put the game on ice.
Â
Over the final 7:13, Quinnipiac was 1-of-8 (12.5 percent) and turned the ball over four times.
Â
Bella Alarie: The sophomore was sparkling over the last week at Lafayette and Quinnipiac, posting two double-doubles, the 11th and 12th of her career. In the two games, she averaged 15.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, 2.5 steals and 2.0 assists. With that, she was honored as the Ivy League Player of the Week for the fourth time in her career.
Â
For the season, Alarie is averaging 17.0 points and 10.4 rebounds this season. The last Princeton player to average a double-double was Ellen Devoe '86 during the 1984-85 season (14.1 pts, 10.5 rebounds). She is 17th in the country in blocked shots per game (2.75) and 31st in rebounds per game (10.4), 57th in total rebounds (83) and 129th in field goal percentage (49.0).Â
Â
Tyler Scaife: The redshirt senior for Rutgers has been incredible this season, averaging 20.8 points per meeting. She has seven 20+ point games including a current run of three straight. She did not play against Princeton last season. For her career, the senior is fourth all-time in Rutgers program history with 1,870 points.
Â
Rutgers' Defense: The Scarlet Knights have allowed under 20 baskets to their opponents in four consecutive games. Opponents are shooting just 36.4 percent (63rd in the country) while the Scarlet Knights are allowing 55.3 points per game (22nd in Division I). Rutgers is also third nationally in steals (157) and ninth in steals per game (13.1).
