December 02, 2017 | Men's Track and Field
The Princeton men's track & field team got to spend their Saturday at The Armory in New York City, competing in a handful of events at the TCNJ Season Opener.
The Tigers excelled in their field events, with first, second and third place finishes in the events they competed in. Freshman Jeffrey Hollis jumped 2.08m (6-9.75) in the high jump to grab first place in his first collegiate meet and fellow rookie Jeffrey Lee-Heidenreich placed second with a jump of 1.98m (6-6).
Sophomore Harry Lord jumped 6.42m (21-0.75) in the long jump for third place and freshman Noah Hurley pole vaulted 4.90m (16-0.75) for second place and matching his personal best in the event.
In the 60m dash, the Tigers had a second-place finish from sophomore Daniel Afolabi with a 6.98s finish in the finals. This is the same time as Afolabi's personal best from last year, as he looks like he is set for a strong season ahead. Behind him in fifth place was classmate JC Colangelo who clocked in at 7.11s—also just .01 seconds off from his personal best
Four Tigers competed in the 300m open. The first to finish was sophomore Justice Dixon in fifth with a time of 35.85, followed by freshman Adam Bear at 36.00, sophomore Connor Matthews at 36.12 and Lord finished at a personal best of 37.23.Â
