Three More Wins Complete Dominant Effort For Tiger Men In 2017 Big Al Open

The Princeton men's swimming and diving team has a history of spectacular efforts at the Big Al Open, and the 2017 squad certainly didn't disappoint. Three more victories on Sunday and a large number of A finalists helped the Tigers claim a dominant win in the Big Al Open with 1291.5 points, more than twice as many as any team in the field.
Besides winning the overall event, the Tigers also improved to 5-2 on the season, and 4-0 in the Ivy League, with dual victories over both Brown (202-97) and Dartmouth (189-100). Brown took second in the weekend competition with 610 points, while Columbia finished third with 488 points.

Freshman Levy Nathan capped his terrific weekend by winning the mile by more than 10 seconds over anybody in the field, while classmate Arthur Markley finished second in 15:25.48. Aaron Glas (15:30.75) and Sam Tarter (15:34.90) made it a perfect 1-2-3-4 finish for the Tigers in the opening event of the night.
Sophomore Wade O'Brien took second in the 200 back in 1:46.96, while the trio of freshman Joshua Brown (44.63), junior Murphy McQuet (44.76), and junior Christian Feiler (44.80) went 4-5-6 in the 100 free.
Junior Tyler Lin (2:00.48) and sophomore Daniel Arris (2:00.91) went 3-4 in the 200 breast, and Buese finished the individual swimming events by winning a thriller in the 200 fly in 1:45.82. Okubo finished second in 1:46.42, while senior tri-captain Zach Buerger finished fifth in 1:47.27.
Freshman Colton Young took second in the 3-meter diving competition with 375.00 points, while sophomore Charlie Minns added a fourth-place finish with 313.70 points.
Princeton closed the weekend in style, as the quartet of Brown, McQuet, Alex Lewis, and Schafer won the 400 free relay in 2:55.26.
The Tigers will try to cap the first half of their season with a fifth Ivy League win next Saturday when they host Columbia at DeNunzio Pool on the Ivy League Network.
