Kelly, Volker & Bledsoe Post Wins at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. (2/19/17) - Sophomores Charlie Volker and Adam Kelly were both winners at the Princeton Invitational this afternoon at Jadwin and Gym, along with senior Xavier Bledsoe as the Tigers competed in the final meet before the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships.
Princeton qualified three finalists for the 60 meter dash. Volker posted the two fastest times of the afternoon, with an 6.84 in the prelims and went on to win the final at 6.85. Freshman JC Colangelo was third at 6.98, while junior Chace Melancon was fifth at 7.03.
Kelly won the weight throw at 21.36 (70-1), to follow up on the win he had at this same meet last year. He was the only thrower to throw further than 20 meters. Senior Vic Youn was third at 17.48 (57-4.25).
Bledsoe cleared 2.08 (6-9.75) to win the high jump. Sophomore Andrew Diehl also got over 2.00 (6-6.75) to take second place. Freshman Luqman Issah was over at 1.90 (6-2.75) to tie for fourth.

Sophomore Sebastian Silveira was the runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles, at 8.49, the fastest time posted by a collegian.
Senior Chris Cook threw 18.02 (59-1.50) to take second in the shot put with the best mark by a collegian. Junior Mitchel Charles was third at 17.02 (55-10.25).

Sophomore Josh Billington had the best mark of any collegiate in the long jump. He found 6.77 (22-2.50) to take fourth as three unattached athletes finished in the top three.Â
Multi-eventers Justice Dixon and Harry Lord went 2-4 in the pole vault. Dixon launched himself to 4.00 (13-1.50) while Lord cleared 3.70 (12-1.50).

Junior August Kiles was fourth in the seeded pole vault at the Virginia Tech Challenge in Blacksburg, Va., on Saturday afternoon. He cleared 5.01 (16-5.25), 5.16 (16-11) and 5.31 (17-5) on his first attempts at each height.
