Easy, it was not, but the Princeton men's basketball team held off Cornell 75-60 on the Big Red's Senior Day in Ithaca Saturday night to make it 15 wins in a row and push its Ivy League record to 12-0.
The win also clinches at least a share of the program's 27th Ivy League championship, and the Tigers could win the outright championship with a win Friday night against Harvard at Jadwin Gym. Should Harvard win that game, Princeton would still win the outright title with a win the next night against Dartmouth or a Harvard loss at Penn.
Devin Cannady led Princeton with 26 points, just three off his career high, while the sophomore made six 3-pointers to give him 12 on the weekend. Myles Stephens added 17 for the Tigers.
Princeton trailed by as many as 10 points as the Big Red were up 23-13 midway through the first half, but the Tigers then went on a 13-2 run to retake the lead and were up one at the half.
Things were tight after the break until Princeton broke open a one-point lead with less than nine minutes to go by going on a 12-0 run, and Cornell was never closer six after that.
The game against Harvard Friday night is a 5 p.m. start, and the game can be seen live on ESPNU.
