Off The Field:
Alexander, more commonly known as "Fish," is currently on a year off from Princeton to recover from an ACL injury he sustained during his sophomore year. While away from campus, Fish has orchestrated the production of a set of documentary short films. The series focuses on alternative treatment methods for the maintenance of mental health in Latin America. Alexander was fortunate enough to receive the Dale Summer Award, which helped fund independent research in Argentina, Peru and Cuba during the summer of 2016. He has since returned to Argentina to make a film about the use of radio as a therapeutic outlet for patients within psychiatric hospitals. The radio programs also help reduce the stigma of mental illness in the surrounding communities that often tune in for a listen. After Argentina, Fish will travel to Peru to film another story about the use of plant medicine in the Peruvian Amazon. Once he returns to the United States, he will spend the remaining months editing the films. Fish also hopes to get his EMT license and pick up surfing.
Fish on the Experience:
"Getting injured has been both a blessing and a curse. I'm cherishing the opportunity to try my hand at new skills like filmmaking in environments very different from the Orange Bubble. However, being away from Princeton has made me realize just how special of a place it is. My incredible teammates, who have supported my project from its inception, are by far the most valuable resource the school has given me. Princeton athletics breeds a certain type of camaraderie that is unmatched
