Hernandez 4-RBI Effort Helps Baseball Team Rally For Tie vs. Rider

Hernandez powered the Princeton offense with four hits in five at-bats, including a two-run double in the seventh inning that gave the Tigers a 6-5 lead. Rider bounced back with two in the eighth inning, but Princeton had one final comeback in store in the ninth. It started with a Paul Tupper double to left field, and then a sacrifice bunt that pushed Tupper to third. Zack Belski was hit by a pitch, and Hernandez followed with his fourth hit of the game. Rider avoided the walk-off Princeton win with back-to-back strikeouts, which ended up being the final outs of the game anyway.
Hernandez opened the scoring with an RBI triple that scored Jesper Horsted in the first inning, and Belski added to the run total with a two-run home run over the rightfield fence in the third inning. Rider kept Princeton off the scoreboard for the next four innings and added four runs of its own to grab a lead.
Andrew Gnazzo started for Princeton and allowed only one earned run over three innings. Four other pitchers handled the rest of the game, with Nick Brady and Ryan Smith combining for 1.2 scoreless innings at the end that gave Princeton a chance to eventually tie the score.
Princeton returns to Clarke Field for a critical pair of Ivy League doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday against Columbia. The Tigers trail Penn by three games with only two weeks remaining in the league season. All four games will be streamed live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
