PRINCETON, N.J. – Just like last year, the Princeton Tigers opened up Ivy League play at home with two victories, this time over the Brown Bears, winning 3-2 and 11-5 at Clarke Field on Sunday afternoon.
Trailing 2-0 early in game one, the Tigers rallied for a victory on a walk-off single from Conor Nolan.
In game two, Nick Hernandez led the Tigers with two home runs and five RBI as the home squad pounded out 13 hits.FINAL: WALKOFF WINNER for Conor Nolan as the Tigers rally for a 3-2 win! pic.twitter.com/SzcSeubzWa

The Bears opened up the scoring with a RBI double from Dalton Sredojevic in the first inning. A run-scoring single in the second put the Bears in front, 2-0. Asher Lee-Tyson's sacrifice fly in the Tigers' second at-bat made the contest, 2-1.
After the second inning, Princeton starter, Chris Giglio allowed just one base runner to get into scoring position until the sixth. The Bears had a runner get to third base with two out, but the senior got a ground out to end the threat.
Down a run, the Tigers put together a two-out rally in the seventh stanza. Down to his final strike, Cody Phillips worked a walk. The next hitter, Jesper Horsted, then singled to right field. Phillips, who stopped at third base, quickly scampered home as the throw to second base was off the mark, extending the game into extra innings.
David Harding led off the home half of the eighth frame with a single. An infield single from Hernandez moved Harding to second before Nolan's walk-off winner.
Hernandez finished game one with two hits. Chris Giglio went six innings, allowing one earned run and struck out seven. Ryan Smith nabbed his first win of the season, throwing two scoreless innings.
Princeton 11, Brown 5 (Game 2)
Last year, it was Zack Belski who had a banner day against Brown as he broke an 82-year program record with eight RBI. This year, it was Hernandez, as the senior smashed a personal best in home runs and RBI.
Down by a run, Hernandez quickly put the Tigers back in front on this home run in the first inning.
The Tigers had a two-out tally in the second stanza. Max West collected an infield single and then stole second before Harding lined a base hit to center field to put the Tigers ahead, 3-1. An unearned run for the Bears made the Ivy matchup, 3-2 after two and half frames.E1 | Tigers jump in front, 2-1, on this long blast from Nick Hernandez! pic.twitter.com/9GVep5qoIA

Princeton chased the Bears' starter, Bobby Leyman, four batters into the third inning. Following a bunt single from Horsted, Asher Lee Tyson hit his first career home run with a laser off the scoreboard….
Back-to-back RBI hits from Danny Baer and Joseph Flynn put the Tigers in front by five (7-2). Individual runs in the third and fourth innings got the Bears within striking distance (7-4).B3 | Way to make your first career HR a memorable Asher! Brown put together a threat in the top of the seventh. With two out and a runner on, consecutive hits made the score, 7-5. A wild pitch moved runners to second and third, but reliever Nick Brady got a strikeout looking to retire the side.
Hernandez's three-run four-bagger in the eighth frame put the game out of reach. The senior had four career home runs coming into the game. Lee-Tyson had three hits and three runs scored. Three other Tigers registered at least two runs. Smith picked up the save after now allowing a run in 1 1/3 innings. Princeton pitchers struck out nine hitters in the contest.
The Tigers improve to 6-14 on the season and 2-0 in the Ivy League while Brown drops to 8-10 overall and 2-2 in the conference. Princeton will take on the Yale Bulldogs at Clarke Field tomorrow. A rematch of the 2016 Ivy League Championship, these two teams get underway in a doubleheader scheduled for 12 p.m.
