Bledsoe and Long Win on Day 2 of Larry Ellis Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. (4/22/17) - Senior Xavier Bledsoe and junior Spencer Long each earned wins for the Princeton men's track & field team on Day 2 of the Larry Ellis Invitational.

Bledsoe won the high jump with a clearance of 2.13 (6-11.75). He made it over the height on his final attempt to nudge Cornell's Myles Lazarou and Penn's Michael Monroe who both reached 2.10. These three went toe-to-toe at Ivy League Indoor Heps and are setting up another great final outdoors. Sophomore Andrew Diehl was seventh at 1.99 (6-6.25), clearing it on his first attempt

Three Tigers competed in the 400 hurdles with Long winning the event with a PR of 52.61. Senior Greg Leeper was third at 53.08, while sophomore Christian Fryer-Davis ran his best time of the season with a 55.26 for 12th place.

Leeper also recorded a third-place finish in the long jump. He leapt to 7.06 (23-2) on his second jump and hit 6.86 on his first attempt.

In the 100, sophomore Charles Volker clocked 10.75, his best time of the season to finish third. Freshman Joe McGrath was eighth with a 10.97. The duo joined up with sophomore Josh Billington and JC Colangelo to take second in the 4x100 relay at 41.41.

Sophomore Cole Bransford ran a PR in the 400, as he crossed the line at 49.19 to take 10th in the event.

In the 4x400, the relay of senior Jabari Johnson, freshman Connor Matthews, freshman Michael Zupko and junior Brennan O'Connor was second at 3:16.16.

In the throws, senior Jared Bell led the Tigers in the discus finishing in fifth place with a throw of
49.08 (161). Junior Mitchel Charles was seventh at 48.00 (157-6). Bell's best throw was on his fifth attempt, while he also had throw of 49.05, 48.74, 47.82 and 47.02. Charles threw 48 on his first throw and went on to hit 46.59 and 44.18.

Princeton will compete at the Penn Relays and the TCNJ Invitational next week, April 27-29. They'll serve as the final meets before the 2017 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships at Yale on May 6 & 7.
