Tornetta Earns Ivy Offensive and GPT/Suburban Transit Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – Sophia Tornetta was honored as the Ivy League Offensive and GoPrincetonTigers.com/Suburban Transit Player of the Week for her performances against Yale and No. 24 BU this past weekend.

It's Tornetta's second career player of the week accolade and fourth weekly Ivy honor. The senior captain scored twice against Yale on Friday as the Tigers easily disposed the Bulldogs, 5-0. It was the first multi-goal game of the season for her and the fifth time she's done while at Princeton. She followed that with an assist vs. No. 24 BU as the Tigers earned a 3-1 victory.

Tornetta has six tallies and 15 points in 2018, surpassing her totals from last year. In 61 career games, the striker has 77 points, totaling 26 goals and 25 assists. Currently on a three-game winning streak, No. 5 Princeton travels to Columbia (Oct. 5) and No. 2 UConn (Oct. 7) next weekend. Â
