Bacskai Selected as Longstreth/NFHCA Defensive Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – Maddie Bacskai has been selected as the Longstreth/NFHCA Defensive Player of the Week, the organization has announced today.

It's Bacskai's first national weekly award. The junior was a Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) First-Team All-American last season and a two-time All-Mid-Atlantic Region player. Clara Roth was named honorable mention for the national Offensive Player of the Week award after eight-point weekend.

Bacskai was a key cog as the Tigers posted a shutout against Columbia. The Lions were held without a shot for the first 26 minutes of the second half and finished with just six total in the game. Against No. 3 UConn, the Huskies had one attempt in the first half and finished with just eight in a 5-2 loss to Princeton.

Currently on a five-game winning streak, Princeton jumped to No. 3 in the national coaches' poll on Tuesday. The Tigers welcome the Brown Bears to Bedford Field on Saturday, starting at 12 p.m.
