Princeton Holds Steady At No. 5 in National Coaches' Poll

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers' ranking remained the same at No. 5 in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches' Poll, the organization released today.

Princeton easily took care of the Yale Bulldogs last Friday, 5-0, on the road. Sophia Tornetta snagged two goals to pace the offense while Hannah Davey, Jane Donio-Enscoe and Clara Roth also registered tallies. Yale had just two shots in the first 66 minutes and was outshot by 21 in the game (25-4).

The Tigers returned home on Sunday and defeated another ranked opponent, then-No. 24 Boston University, 3-1. Roth, Taylor Nolan and Ali McCarthy scored in the contest. After scoring seven goals the previous day, the Terriers were held to just six shots total.

For her performances over the weekend, Tornetta was honored as the Ivy League Offensive and GoPrincetonTigers.com/Suburban Transit Player of the Week. She is tied for the team lead in goals (six) and points (15) with Roth. MaryKate Neff (11), Donio-Enscoe (10) and Julianna Tornetta (10) also have at least double-digits in points while Davey sits with nine. Davey's seven helpers are the team-high.

North Carolina still is No. 1, while Maryland (No. 2) and UConn (No. 3) flipped spots. Duke is No. 4 right in front of Princeton. Harvard, the only other Ivy squad in the poll, jumped to No. 11.

Head coach Carla Tagliente's group travels to Columbia on Friday (5:30 p.m.) before another big non-conference contest against No. 3 UConn on Sunday (12 p.m.).
