Harvard Upsets Princeton In Women's Volleyball; Tigers Fall Into 3-Way Tie
October 06, 2018 | Women's Volleyball
The Princeton women's volleyball fell into a three-way tie for first place Saturday night after dropping a 3-0 road match at Harvard. That loss, combined with Yale's 3-1 win over Cornell, leaves Princeton, Yale and Cornell with matching 4-1 Ivy League records; Princeton will host Cornell next Friday night to open its upcoming Ivy League home weekend.
Princeton got 12 kills from Maggie O'Connell and 10 from Devon Peterkin, while Jessie Harris had 34 assists. Four other Princeton players had between 4-6 kills, while both Harris and Clare Lenihan had two blocks. Ultimately, the Tiger defense wasn't able to stop the Harvard offense enough to overcome an early deficit. Harvard hit .381 in the victory, including over .400 in each of the final two sets.
Princeton will open its next weekend with a 7 pm showdown against Cornell, and then will close the first half of Ivy play Saturday at 5 pm against Columbia. Both matches will be streamed live on ESPN+.
