No. 5 Princeton Sweeps Ivy Weekly Accolades
October 08, 2018 | Field Hockey
PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 5 Princeton Tigers swept the Ivy League weekly honors as Clara Roth (Offensive) and Maddie Bacskai (Defensive) were named Players of the Week.
Â
Roth was nothing short of incredible last weekend. She posted two goals and an assist vs. Columbia, securing five points in a dominating 4-0 victory over the Lions. It was her sixth career multi-goal contest. She followed that with a goal and an assist as Princeton secured its first road victory over No. 3 UConn since 2002.
Â
Bacskai was a key cog as the Tigers posted a shutout against Columbia. The Lions were held without a shot for the first 26 minutes of the second half and finished with just six total in the game. Against No. 3 UConn, the Huskies had one attempt in the first half and finished with just eight in a 5-2 loss to Princeton.
Â
This is the fifth and sixth time this season that Princeton earned an Ivy weekly accolade as Grace Baylis (Defensive, Sept. 3), MaryKate Neff (Offensive, Sept. 10), Elise Wong (Defensive, Sept. 17) and Sophia Tornetta (Oct. 1) all earned awards. Princeton has won at least one honor in five of the six weeks its played.
Â
Currently on a five-game winning streak, No. 5 Princeton welcomes the Brown Bears to Bedford Field on Saturday, starting at 12 p.m.
