December 21, 2018 | Women's Basketball
WEST HARTFORD, CONN. – A dominating performance on both sides of the floor helped the Princeton Tigers run by the Hartford Hawks, 75-38, at the Reich Family Pavilion on Friday evening.
Â
Bella Alarie paced the offense with 24 points, making a personal-high 11 field goals, while securing 11 rebounds and five blocks. It's her 22nd career double-double in her 65th career game. Carlie Littlefield did not miss from beyond the arc, making four treys, nabbing 12 points. Grace Stone had six helpers for a season-best in the victory.
Â
The Tigers started off quickly with 10 of the first 12 points, making 4-of-5, including two treys. Princeton maintained its advantage by finishing the quarter shooting 56.3 percent (9-of-16).
Â
Suffocating defense led the road squad to take a 39-16 lead into intermission. Hartford had just three baskets in each quarter. Head coach Courtney Banghart's group made 17-of-28 in the first 20 minutes of game action, its best offensive half of the season. The 2018 Ivy Player of the Year wrapped up the first half with 16 points, nine rebounds, three blocks and two assists.
Â
Hartford never got within striking distance in the second half as Princeton gave up two baskets in the third stanza. The Hawks finished the contest at 22 percent shooting (13-of-59). It was the lowest percentage a Princeton opponent has shot all year. The Tigers forced 13 Hawks turnovers, blocked eight shots and stole four passes. Princeton held their largest advantage of the season (39) and did not trail at any point of the game for the second time this campaign.
Â
Banghart's team earned its sixth consecutive win to jump to 7-7 overall. Hartford dropped to 5-7 this year. The Tigers have one more contest in 2018 with a trip to New Hampshire on Dec. 29. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. Â
