Tigers Push Streak to 11 After 5-2 Win at Rensselaer

The No. 6 ranked Princeton women's hockey team pushed its unbeaten to streak to 11, the longest unbeaten streak in the nation, after a 5-2 win over Rensselaer on Friday night at Houston Field House.

Sarah Verbeek, Mariah Keopple, Sharon Frankel and Karlie Lund each had two-point games.

Junior Shannon Griffin put the Tigers on the board with a goal from the slot with Sharon Frankel picking up the assist. Verbeek made it 2-0 with a beautiful goal as Princeton (8-2-3, 7-0-2) used its speed to create an odd-man rush. Lund started up the left boards and crossed to Kayla Fillier who had a great drop pass to Verbeek for the tally.

Rensselaer's Sabrina Repaci notched a back door goal at 7:28 of the second but a power-play goal by Frankel put the Tigers back up by two, six minutes later. It was a drive by freshman Mariah Keopple that was redirected by Frankel through the five hole with Verbeek earning the secondary assist.

Sophomore Carly Bullock scored her 11th goal of the season off a scramble in front after Sarah Fillier tried to dance her way to the goal.

The Engineers responded with a power-play goal less than two minutes later but Keopple finished off the scoring with a wrister from the point at 18:34.

The ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Month Rachel McQuigge made 16 saves for the win.

Lovisa Selandar stopped 26 shots in goal for Rensselaer (5-9-4, 3-4).

Princeton's power play, ranked third in the nation, went 1 for 5 while the penalty kill was 4 of 5.

Princeton looks to match its program best 12-game unbeaten streak tomorrow afternoon with a 3 p.m., game at Union.
