Tigers Hosts Princeton Invitational in Final Prep for Ivy Heps

It's the final indoor meet before the 2017 Ivy League Heptagonal Championship, and it's happening at Jadwin Gym. The Princeton Invitational will be held on Sunday, Feb. 19 beginning at 11 a.m., with the field events. The track events start at 12:30 p.m.
Last year at the Princeton Invitational, the women's team saw two new records with Julia Ratcliffe '17 throwing a Princeton record of 20.13 in the weight throw and Allison Harris '17 putting up an Ivy League record of 4.27 in the pole vault. On the track Devon Block-Funkhouser '20 won the 500 with a PR of 1:17.46, while Maria Seykora '17 and Jessica Ackerman '17 went 1-2 in the mile. Another 1-2 finish came in the hurdles with Maia Craver '18 nudging Ellie Randolph '19 at the finish. Second place finishes came from Christina Walter '19 in the 60, Anna Jurew '19 in the 800 and Hadley Wilhoite in the high jump.
The Tiger men won three events last year with Adam Kelly '20 starting things off with a victory in the weight throw at 21.36. This year Kelly's throw of 22.09 has him positioned ninth in the nation. Upstairs Xavier Bledsoe '17 cleared 2.08 to win the high jump and on the track Charlie Volker '19 posted a 6.84 in the 60. In the hurdles, Sebastian Silveira '19 was the runner up with an 8.49, Christopher Cook '17 threw 18.02 in the shot put to take second, and Justice Dixon '20 was the runner-up in the pole vault at 4.00. Another to look for this weekend is Lane Russell '19 in the triple jump. He is 18th nationally with a 15.79 as he returns healthy this season. August Kiles '18 has already found 5.30 in the pole vault this year to rank 26th nationally as he heads into this final meet at Jadwin Gym.
