
Princeton Heads to Indoor #IvyHeps at Dartmouth This Weekend

The Princeton women's track & field team competes for its 10th Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal title this weekend in Hanover, N.H. The Tigers have finished fourth the last two indoor seasons and last took the trophy in 2011 when the program won its second Triple Crown.
SPRINTS & HURDLES
Princeton has two athletes who will take on the short sprints in senior Christina Walter and freshman Kathryn DiFrancesco. Walter has the top time in the 60 with a PR of 7.62 run this past weekend at the Princeton Invitational, while DiFrancesco clocked 7.78 earlier in the season at Jadwin Gym. Walter ranks fifth in the league in the 200 with a 24.41 from the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup with DiFrancesco in the top-15 with a 24.85 from Fasttrack.
DiFranceso also owns the Tigers' best time in the 400 at 57.18 and is followed by sophomore Heide Baron at 57.22. Baron took fourth last year in her first Heps. Sophomore Ashley Willingham was a scorer in the event last year and has a season best 57.82.
Junior Ellie Randolph will most likely double taking on the 60-meter hurdles and the long jump. Randolph owns the sixth best time in the league in the hurdles with a PR of 8.62.
MIDDLE DISTANCE/DISTANCE
The Tigers middle distance crew is primed for competition in the 500, 800, 1,000 and mile. Junior Jackie Berardo has the Tigers' best time in the 500 at 1:15.13, the only time she has run the event this year. An less frequently run event, junior Carly Bonnet and sophomore Devon Block-Funkhouser also ran under 1:17 this year.
A great tandem in the 800 is Berardo and classmate Anna Jurew. Berardo was the runner-up in the 800 outdoors and boasts a 2:10.20, the sixth best time in the league this year. Jurew was fifth indoors and followed up with a fourth-place finish outdoors. This year she has the seventh best time entering Heps with a 2:10.23. Freshman Sophie Cantine and junior Allison Glossinger can also challenge in the event.
In the 1,000 meters, Jurew leads the Tigers with a 2:49.35 from the HYP. Cantine and sophomore Madeleine Sumner have also ran under 2:53 this season.
Cantine may just focus on the mile. She has the sixth best time in the league with a 4:49.30 from the Fasttrack National Invite.
Individual Ivy League cross country champion Gabi Forrest looks to keep winning titles in the outdoor races. She has shaved nearly 20 seconds off her PR this year in both times she has run the 3,000 and her PR of 9:31.20 from Fasttrack ranks sixth. Senior Megan Curham has been the runner-up in the 3,000 twice and won the 5,000 in 2015 after taking second in 2014. She has the second fastest time in the league in the 5,000 with a 16:32.27 and owns a PR of 15:54.03.
JUMPS
Junior Kerri Davidson, who finished third in the triple jump in 2016, has the third best jump in the league this year. She reached 11.86 at the Great Dane Classic and has the capability to clear 12.24. Freshmen Katherine Barnett and Kara Steele are both in the top-10 in the event with marks of 11.79 and 11.64. In the long jump, hurdler Randolph looks to score for the second consecutive season. She has a season best 5.69 to rank ninth and has a PR of 5.86.
Two-time pole vault champion Allison Harris '17 has graduated leaving the door open for fellow Tigers. Freshman Alexandra Munson has the best chance with a 3.50 from the New Year's Invitational.
Sophomore Kyla Dobies and freshman Lindsey Schmidt are options in the high jump. Schmidt experience with jumping in the pentathlon while Dobies specializes They have respective season PR's of 1.67 and 1.65.
THROWS
Senior Kennedy O'Dell will double in the shot put and the weight throw. She has scored in both of the events the last two years and has the best weight mark in the league with a 19.29. O'Dell is one of just three throwers in the league that has thrown past 19 meters. Sophomore Ellen Scott-Young's throw of 16.79 ranks seventh in the league and she has continued to improve all season. O'Dell also in the shot put with a PR of 14.45 from the Fasttrack National Invite. Freshman Obiageri Amaechi is also a strong contender. Amaechi sits right behind O'Dell with a 13.88 while Harisay threw a PR 12.85 this past weekend.
MULTIS
The Tigers have four multi-events that will look to grab points in the pentathlon. Craver was the runner up last year and has the top score for the Tigers with a 3568 from the Multi Event Meet at Jadwin Gym. Junior Frances Lodge is right behind her with a 3553. Freshman Lindsey Schmidt and Mikaela Sawyer both have top-15 scores in the league.
RELAYS
Princeton won the 4x800 last year and with a solid middle distance crew could do so again this year. This year the team has ran its 4x800 just twice, including at HYP when it ran 9:13.35. The 4x400 relay has a season best time of 3:48.37 and was fourth a year ago. The DMR also fourth last year has run once this year, at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup and has a time of 11:33.88.
