Tigers Season Ends in Game 3 of ECAC Playoffs at No. 5 Cornell

Princeton pushed the series to a Game 3 but in the end No. 5 Cornell came out on top in the ECAC Quarterfinals, taking the final game 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at Lynah Rink.
The Tigers were relentless, down a goal in Game 2 before freshman Sharon Frankel scored with just 3:38 remaining in regulation to force overtime and classmate Annie MacDonald won it in overtime. It was one of Princeton's three wins over a top-five ranked team this season including posting a shutout against No. 1 Clarkson. Princeton concludes its season with a 14-14-4 overall record.
Like the first game of the series, this one saw penalties aplenty with the Tigers drawing nine infractions and the Big Red picking up seven. Cornell however was able to convert on two of their power-plays and scored another eight seconds after a power-play had just ended.
Freshman Madlynne Mills gave Cornell a 1-0 lead in the first period with a power-play goal from Sarah Knee and Brianna Veerman and Knee scored herself in the next period, eight seconds after Karlie Lund's checking penalty had expired. The special team struck again four minutes later with Veerman putting in a Jaime Bourbonnais pass. Cornell extended to lead to 4-0 at 10:59 of the third when Diana Buckley delivered on the Big Red's fourth effort after a series of attempts, wide, blocked and saved.
Sophomore Stephanie Neatby made 29 saves in goal for Princeton and finishes her season with a
Marlene Boissonnault stopped 18 shots for Cornell as it advances to the ECAC semifinals next weekend.
