PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers come into this week at No. 22 in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Varsity Poll, the conference announced today.
After beginning the season 0-4, the Tigers have rolled off four consecutive victories, including an exhibition loss to the Chinese National Team. At the Princeton Invitational, head coach Becca Dorst's squad dropped George Washington (14-6), Iona (13-5) and Villanova (13-3) before defeating George Washington again last Saturday on the road (15-11).
Stanford remains as No. 1 school in the CWPA Varsity Poll. USC, UCLA, Cal., and Hawaii round out the top five. Michigan is the top school in the CWPA in the poll at No. 9.
Lindsey Keller leads the team with 22 points this season including 12 goals and 10 assists along with nine steals and nine drawn ejections. Five different players have registered at least 10 goals as Chelsea Johnson leads the way with 14. Johnson also has a team-best with 13 drawn ejections and Sarah Lawson's 13 steals paces Princeton. Marissa Webb has a .565 save percentage in eight games this season.
Princeton takes part in the Harvard Invitational this weekend, battling the No. 15 Wagner Seahawks (4 p.m.) on Saturday and No. 18 San Jose State Spartans (8 a.m.) and the University of Toronto Varsity Blues (10:40 a.m., exhibition) on Sunday. Princeton is 16-1 all-time against Wagner and has never beaten San Jose State in seven attempts. The Tigers have never taken on the University of Toronto.
