Princeton Opens Outdoor Track & Field Season Friday

The Princeton track & field teams will begin the 2018 outdoor season this Friday, March 23 at the University of North Florida Spring Break Invitational. The meet comes at the conclusion of the Tigers annual spring break training trip in Florida.
The Princeton men's squad is coming off of its 21st Ivy Heps title in which the squad won by the widest margin of victory in Ivy Heps history. Sixteen Tigers were named all-Ivy League with eight individual winning individual titles, as well as the distance medley relay. Head Coach Fred Samara not only earned the Ivy League Coach of the Year but was named the Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as well, with Jason Vigilante nabbing Mid-Atlantic Assistant Coach of the Year honors.
The Princeton women finished sixth at the Ivy Heps and were just two points out of first place after Day 1. Junior Jackie Berardo was the runner-up in the 800, while senior Christina Walters was a double scorer in both short sprints. Eight others scored in track races. Senior Kennedy O'Dell scored in both throwing events, while the Tigers had four others captured points in the field events including the multi-events.
It won't be the last time the Tigers compete in the Sunshine State with the NCAA Regionals slated for Tampa in May.
