April 01, 2018 | Baseball
Davis and Jesper Horsted had two hits each. For the second straight game, Princeton's 7-8-9 hitters caused havoc, scoring six runs, adding three hits and two RBI. Max West hit his second career home run, posting two RBI and two runs. James Proctor and Eli Kimbell combined for 11 strikeouts. Kimbell threw the final five innings, allowing just two hits, earning the victory.
Cornell got the scoring started in the top of the second inning on a two-out two-run double from Ellis Bitar. This knock from Horsted in the bottom of the third got the Tigers on the board.
A fielding error tied the contest at 2-all a batter later. The Big Red quickly answered in the next half frame. Trey Baur led off with a double. A flyout and hit-by-pitch followed before two stolen bases put runners on second and third with one out. Proctor got a strikeout, but Ryan Krainz lined a base hit to right field putting Cornell ahead, 4-2.B3: Horsted with the infield single gets the Tigers on the board! Princeton added on, loading the bases with a fielding error, single from Davis and walk from Asher Lee-Tyson. Horsted's RBI groundout put the home squad in front, 5-4.
