Princeton Finishes Spring Season Undefeated

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers finished the spring portion of their 2018 schedule undefeated with victories over St. Joe's, Penn State and Delaware.

Apr. 7 vs. St. Joseph's – W, 6-0 – Goals: Julianna Tornetta 2, Maddie Bacskai, Taylor Nolan, Sophia Tornetta, Jane Donio-Enscoe
"The St. Joes game was our first game of the spring and everyone was really excited going into it," said Sophia Tornetta. "We got off to a great start once the whistle blew. We attacked forward with speed and were able to capitalize on our opportunities in the circle. Defensively, we showed a lot of strength in our tackles and were very successful in our out-letting. It was a great way to begin the spring and helped us set the bar for our remaining games."

Apr. 15 – Penn State, W, 4-2 – Goals: MaryKate Neff 2, Julianna Tornetta 2
"The team showed a lot of growth during the Penn State game," noted Maddie Bacskai. "The lines really connected while on attack and we were very threatening going forward. Many of the focus points from the spring practices were displayed and each person played a role in the win. Overall, it was a great outcome, but also highlighted some details that we wanted to improve upon the following weekend versus Delaware like consistency and high pressure from the backfield."

Apr. 21 – Delaware, W, 3-1 – Goals: Sophia Tornetta, Clara Roth, MaryKate Neff
"I think that we played with intensity from the start and didn't fall into the trap of coming out slow like we have done in previous times against Delaware," mentioned Grace Baylis. "I think that applies to the whole spring season. At times I think we were slow to organize, both the press and defending in the 25, particularly in the 2nd half. Overall though, I felt as though we dealt with Delaware's play better than in previous meetings and definitely created opportunities to score."

It was the second straight undefeated spring season for Princeton.
Grace Baylis did not allow a goal during her time in the cage.
Freshmen contributed eight of the team's 13 goals.
