Princeton Stays Unbeaten on Sherrerd with 1-0 Win over BU
September 15, 2018 | Men's Soccer
Princeton dominated Boston University and walked away with a 1-0 win to stay unbeaten in the all-time series and at its temporary home at Sherrerd Field.
The Tigers outshot the Terriers 22-4 with senior Jeremy Colvin once again delivering the game-winning goal with a tally in the 62nd minute with an assist to junior defender Bobby Hickson.
Princeton (3-3) was relentless testing BU keeper Mike Bernardi but he was solid in goal finishing teh game with an incredible 14 saves.
The Tigers were able to break through off a corner kick in the second half. Senior Bryan Prudil took the corner from the left side and Bernardi punched the ball away. Freshman Moulay Hamza Kenzi Belghiti was positioned perfectly to regain control of the ball and play it back to Prudil where he put it back in the box. The ball caromed off of a defender to Hickson who saw Colvin to his left and he played it to him for the goal.
"We've spent a lot of time in practice working on second-chance balls," Hickson said. "I saw the goalie punch it out but there was a lot of open space in that area and I picked up my head and saw Colvin and headed it to him. He's been doing a lot of side volleys in practice so I knew he was going to tuck it away."
Princeton will make the short 10-minute trip to Rider on Wednesday, Sept. 19 for a 7 p.m., game before returning home for three straight matches including the Ivy League opener on Sept. 29.
