Princeton Ready for HYP Meet At Jadwin

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton track and field squads will take part in the annual Harvard-Yale-Princeton (H-Y-P) meet at Jadwin Gym on Saturday (Jan. 26).
It's also Student Day at the meet. There will be free cheer gear and pizza to the first 100 students. The pizza party gets underway at 2 p.m.

The men's squad has won the last 26 consecutive HYP events, taking home the title last season, outscoring Yale by 66 and Harvard by 48. Since the first HYP meet in 1953, Princeton has claimed 34 titles, with Harvard trailing with 19 and Yale with 10. The women's team have won the last four HYP contests including 12 of the last 19 since 2000. Last year, Princeton (78) dropped Harvard (63) and Yale (40) to claim the victory.

For the men's group, Â Joey Daniels (7.88) and Christian Brown (7.90) stole the show at the Navy Invitational (Jan. 12), posting two of the top-15 (at the time) time in the country. Princeton had the top two in the long jump as Jesse Thibodeau (7.16m) and Austin Princewill (7.11m) were 1-2. Connor Matthews (48.826) lost in the 400m race by one-thousands of a second. It was Matthews' fastest sprint of the indoor campaign and is in the top 40 times in the nation.

For the women's group, Anna Jurew, Alie Fordyce (2:48.17) and Sophie Cantine (2:48.17) placed second, third and fourth in the 1000m race at the Navy Invitational. It was a personal-best for each runner while Jurew moved into second all-time in Princeton history while Fordyce is now third and Cantine fifth. Isabella Hilditch won the 60m hurdles event with an 8.63, good for the fourth fastest time in indoor history. Katie DiFrancesco (24.51) and Hilditch (24.93) were 1-2 in the 200m dash.

The distance medley relay squad (Offstein, Berardo, Fordyce and Cantine) posted the eighth promptest time ever for the indoor squad (11:25.66). The mark was second in the six-team event and also the second-best in the NCAA to date. The group of DiFrancesco, Baron, Willingham and Bonnet) in the 4x400m relay secured the fifth quickest time on the indoor record book (3:47.32), winning the event. Hanne Borstlap had a personal-high 3.95m in the pole vault, taking the victory. It's tied for the third best record by Princeton indoor standards.
