Princeton Runs Away For Easy HYP Title

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers earned its fifth straight HYP title, easily disposing Harvard and Yale at Jadwin Gym on Saturday evening.
The Tigers (91) outscored Harvard (60) and Yale (30) combined. Princeton has won 13 of the last 20 HYP crowns.
"I'm obviously very pleased with the meet," said head coach Michelle Eisenreich. "I'm happy with the number of races we won and how ready we are for the top teams in the Ivy League."
Gillian Wagner picked up the victory in the mile, earning a 4:46.75. Her adjusted time (4:43.84) is the 19th quickest time in Division-I. Alie Fordyce (4:48.49) and Melia Chittenden (4:52.67) were third and fourth. Fordyce's adjusted posting (4:45.67) is the 27th best time in the country.
Allie Klimkiewicz set a personal record (9:37.64) in the 3000m to secure a victory. With an adjusted mark (9:32.72), her pace is 20th in the NCAA. Peyton Brown also grabbed a point for the home team (9.37.73)
Jackie Berardo was third after 400m, but rallied to win the 800m race (2:11.84), finishing right in front of her teammate Sophie Cantine (2:12.86). Katie DiFrancesco recorded the quickest pace in the 200m (24.88) while Isabella Hilditch was third (25.40).
Kerri Davidson had the top mark in the triple jump (11.99m) as Katie Barnett (11.72m) and Kara Steele (11.51m) also scored for the Tigers. Davidson's mark is the fourth-best in the Ivy League in the winter season.
Emma Daugherty (1.63m), Frances Lodge and Hadley Wilhoite (1.58m) picked up the top-three positions in the high jump for Princeton. Obiageri Amaechi won the shot put (14.65m) to nab another top score for the winning squad. Julia Harisay also scored, placing fourth (13.69m).
Ellen Scott-Young had the furthest weight throw (16.51m) while Luisa Chantler Edmond was second (14.93m).
Ellie Randolph placed second with an 8.63 in the 60m hurdles, just off her personal-best (8.62). Hilditch earned a point with a third-place honor (8.66). Randolph was second in the long jump (5.54m), just off Harvard's DaLoria Boone's high mark of 5.55m.
Ashley Willingham (57.16) and Heide Baron (57.29) were second and third in the 400m. Baron won her heat with her time. Carly Bonnet (1:15.90) and Allison Glossinger (1:16.77) were also second and third in the 500m.
Anna Jurew was fourth with 200m to go, but picked up a second-place tally (2:48.72) in the 1000m. Madison Offstein recorded a point for Princeton, good for fourth. (2:49.02). The Tigers were second (3:50.14) in the 4x400 (DiFrancesco, Baron, Willingham, Bonnet).
Eisenreich's unit will take part in the Princeton Multis event at Jadwin on Wednesday and Thursday of next week (Jan. 30-31) before the Villanova Invitational on Friday (Feb. 1).
