Â
Common Foes – New Hampshire fell to 0-3 against Ivy League opponents with its loss to Princeton on Dec. 29. The Wildcats have registered under 50 points in four straight games.
Â
Struggling Offense - New Hampshire never got within 20 in the second half. In the fourth stanza, Princeton would give up only two buckets. The Tigers forced 21 turnovers, outscored the Wildcats 44-18 in the paint, and outrebounded the home unit, 39-29.
Â
Ashley Storey – The Wildcats' leading scorer produced 14 points against Princeton, but was a non-factor as Princeton did not allow another New Hampshire player to score in double-figures.
Â
Here are some factors to watch out for against Penn ...
Â
Defense – The Quakers have one of the best scoring defenses (third) in the country (49.0) while also sitting fourth in field goal percentage defense (31.0). Penn has not allowed more than 60 points in each of the past five games, posting a 4-1 record. Only one team has shot over 40 percent from the floor against Penn (then-No. 1 Notre Dame).
Â
Eleah Parker - Parker has been the team's best scoring threat (13.2 points) and rebounder (8.3). She also has 33 blocks this year. In her three games last season against Princeton, she averaged 6.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and shot only 32.3 percent.
Â
Showing Off From Deep – Princeton ranks in top third among Division I foes (91st) in making long range buckets (33.3 percent). The Tigers are in top 25 in total threes made (118) and are 13th in attempts (354). Carlie Littlefield is knocking down over 40 percent (41.0) while Gabrielle Rush is at 34.6. Penn defends the three-point line very well, allowing teams to shoot just 25.2 percent (21st).
Â
Bella Buckets – The 2018 Ivy Player of the Year has been remarkable since coming back almost a month ago. She has posted at least 16 points and two blocks in every game. In that stretch, the junior has recorded 19.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.8 blocks, 3.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Last season against the Quakers, Alarie was almost unstoppable, stamping her mark as the best player in the conference, securing 14.7 points, while shooting 53.6 percent, adding 14.7 rebounds and 5.6 blocks per game.
