Trinity Showdown, Ivy Opener Highlight Huge Weekend For Princeton Women's Squash
January 09, 2019 | Women's Squash
There were strong moments during the 2018 portion of the season, especially a 7-2 win over a strong Stanford program during the first weekend of official competition. Make no mistake, though … the heart of the season opens this week for the third-ranked Princeton women's squash team.
And it starts at the home of the team ranked right above the Tigers.
#3 Princeton heads to Hartford, Conn., Thursday for a 1 pm showdown at #2 Trinity. Both teams enter the highly anticipated showdown with matching 6-0 records, and both teams also have motivation from the previous season to build upon. Princeton rallied from a 4-1 deficit in Jadwin Gym to stun Trinity 5-4 in a thriller during the last regular season, while the Bantams rallied in the Howe Cup to upset Princeton in the semifinal.
You can watch Thursday's match here.
Also, Princeton squash siblings Grace and Clark Doyle will be featured on the next episode of "Beyond The Stripes," which is set to run Thursday afternoon on GoPrincetonTigers.com and Twitter (@TigerSquash1) prior to the Trinity match.
Following the Trinity match, Princeton will turn its attention on the 2019 Ivy League season, which opens with a weekend road trip to both Brown (Saturday, 2:30 pm) and Yale (Sunday, 12 pm). Brown is ranked 10th nationally and holds a 2-1 record this season, while Yale is ranked sixth and is 4-0 on the season.
Princeton has won 52 of 54 individual matches this season, including each of its last four team wins.
