Â
Down two early at home.
Â
A thrilling comeback.
Â
A McCarthy game-winning goal.Â
Â
That time, it was Ryan McCarthy with no time on the clock.
Â
This year, it was her sister, Ali, in overtime.
Â
McCarthy's game-winner tonight came after an impressive individual effort by Julianna Tornetta to get around several defenders before the sophomore's whack into cage. Princeton took home the 4-3 decision over the Yale Bulldogs at Bedford Field.
Yale started off quickly registering two goals in the first five minutes of action. On the Bulldogs' first tally, Anissa Abboud found a long pass and had 1v1 with Grace Baylis and got it by her. Yale picked its second goal on a corner. The rest of quarter belonged to Princeton as it registered four shots but couldn't get on the board.VICTORY!

The Tigers' offense hardly slowed down in the second stanza, producing five shot in four minutes. Princeton also registered a penalty stroke, but the shot was off the mark. Head coach Carla Tagliente's group finally got one through on a corner. Clare Donovan picked up her first career goal, knocking in a ball from Autumn Brown.
Â
Princeton did not allow a shot in the second stanza and took an 18-3 shot advantage into the break, despite trailing on the scoreboard.
Â
Clara took care of the Tigers' deficit at the 36-minute mark as she took the ball along the far baseline and ripped a turnaround shot in. It was her sixth goal of the year and 25th career tally.
Â
After a stop from Yale's Sydney Terroso, the Bulldogs turned the ball over right in front of the circle. Donovan corralled it and sent a shot that went in.
The third quarter was another 15-minute stretch where Princeton did not give up a shot. The Bulldogs went 37:20 of game action without a ball reaching the cage.PRINCETON GOAL!

Â
In the extra session, the Tigers had five shots on the cage before McCarthy's game-winner. Princeton wrapped up the matchup with 32 more shots than Yale (38-6) and 15 more corners (17-2).
Â
All, but one of Tagliente's squad's games have been decided by one goal. The Tigers improve to 6-4 this season while the Bulldogs dropped to 2-6. Princeton makes the trip to No. 2 Duke on Sunday (1 p.m.). As a reminder, unless fans have the ACC Network on the television package, they can't stream the game like the regular ESPN+ subscription.
