PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 8 Princeton Tigers will begin their NCAA Tournament journey in Storrs, Connecticut taking on the No. 12 Syracuse Orange on Friday, Nov. 15 at 2:30 p.m.
Â
"I am very proud of this team and what we have accomplished to date," said head coach Carla Tagliente. "We've had a challenging schedule that has prepared us well for this next step to the tournament. This is always a special time of the year and we're very fortunate to be back competing for a national championship. Everyone is 0-0 at this point. It doesn't matter what seed you are or what your record was in the regular season. What matters is the game in front of you and the belief you have in yourself and your teammates to run the table."
Â
Princeton ended the regular season on a ten-game winning streak, finishing 13-4 overall. The Tigers earned the outright Ivy League title, their 26th in program history. It is also the 25th NCAA Tournament that Princeton has appeared in.
Â
No. 12 Syracuse is 12-6 this season, going 3-3 in a vaunted ACC that sent six schools to the NCAA Tournament. The Orange lost in the ACC quarterfinals to No. 5 Louisville. Syracuse has five ranked victories this season. Princeton is 11-10 all-time against Syracuse, having lost seven straight. These two teams last met in during the 2017 season with the Orange earning a 1-0 victory.
Â
The other contest in the quad features the host school, No. 2 UConn, and the winner of the Fairfield/American matchup. Fairfield and American get started on Wednesday (1 p.m.).
Â
Opening round games will be played on two campus sites Nov. 13. First- and second-round games will be played on four campus sites Nov. 15 and 17. Wake Forest University will host the semifinals and final Friday, Nov. 22, and Sunday, Nov. 24, at Kentner Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The semifinals and final will be streamed live on NCAA.com. For ticket information visit NCAA.com/tickets.
